Theresa
Documentation and Preservation Project
15’ Delaware Ducker
approx 1880’s

Theresa is an example of a duck hunting boat from the Delaware Valley region dating to the 1880’s and is currently in the collection of the Independence Seaport Museum. This project is to utilize traditional and modern techniques to measure and document the lines of the boat in its current condition and translate them into a best approximation of the original design. These lines have been translated into a full-scale lofting and table of offsets. This information will be included in the Independence Seaport Museum archives should anything happen to the boat, or a builder chooses to build a replica of the original Delaware Ducker. In conjunction with traditional lines-taking, the boat is being 3D scanned and we are working toward a virtual and physical 3D model, as well as a traditional scale drawing of the plans.

This research project is part of the Penn State Abington College ACURA (Abington College Undergraduate Research Activities) program.
