Tinicum
24’ Corinthian Sloop
1951 Design

Tinicum was completed in June 2023 at Independence Seaport Museum’s Workshop on the Water under the leadership of Assistant Shop Director David Dormond.

H. John Thompson is a volunteer and core member of the build team for this vessel and has been responsible for the hull planking, floor timbers, floor planks, deck beams, and miscellaneous trim work.

The 24’ Corinthian Sloop was designed by naval architect and Philadelphian, Thomas Bowes. The original fleet of 9 were built by the G. Baay workshop in Loosdrecht, Holland, in 1951. A core goal of this project is to act as a catalyst to revitalize one-design class sailing on the Delaware River.
